When I was new to the faith and didn’t know for sure if Amish was Christian, I wondered about the Dutch German thing and how my dad liked to speak that language sometimes and I like your hats and your hands that bake bread and brush the hair of a horse and can make special dresses and trousers for those who you have been given to love. And if you are a Mennonite and you’re feeling upset about the culture and you’d like to wear makeup and play volleyball in a half shirt well I hope you can do more than be quiet in the dark around your elders and I am so thankful if you know you are truly loved.
